The village has a total of 6 chapels, all of which share a similar architectural style. However, each one has its own charm and significance for the area, as they are associated with different times of the year and various customs of the Christian tradition.
Chapel of Agios Ioannis Prodromos
It is located in an idyllic spot between the two beaches of Lazes and Lampagianna. The celebration takes place on the 29th of August each year.
Due to its wonderful location, it is used both by the locals and by many foreigners as a place for wedding ceremonies or baptisms.
The best times to visit are early morning hours or late afternoons.
Chapel Agion Anargyron (Papoulia)
A small church in the Papoulia area surrounded by pine trees. The celebration takes place on the 1st of July each year.
In this place, since the very old days, the inhabitants gather for the celebration of Labor Day and make wreaths from the flowers of the amaranth plant, which adorn the doors of the houses for months.
From this point begins a beautiful walking route to the Katafiki gorge.
Chapel of Dormitory of the Virgin Mary
The small church is hidden behind the houses of the central square (Vrysis) and is one of the oldest in the settlement. Its existence is mentioned in documents from the 16th century. The celebration takes place on the 15th of August each year.
Access to the church is through two narrow streets located on its eastern and southern sides.
Chapel Agion Anargyron (old cemetery)
The small church is located inside the village, on the north side of the hill and near the road that connects the central square with the school. It is also one of the oldest churches, as the village cemetery was originally there, but it was moved to its current location due to limited space and unsuitability of the soil.
The celebration takes place on the 1st of November each year.
Chapel Agion Theodoron (cemetery)
The church is located within the area of the village cemetery on the west side of the settlement and is surrounded by cypress trees as is customary in such areas in Greece.
According to the ancient Greeks, the cypress tree was considered a tree of mourning, in recent years the Orthodox Christians believe (due to its shape) that it connects the earth with the sky and "helps the souls to ascend to heaven"
The date of the feast day of Saint Theodore varies by year, but it is always celebrated on the Saturday of the first week of Lent, which is also known as the Day of the Souls.
Chapel of Prophet Ilias
The temple is located "above" the village, on top of a rock on the south side of the village.
It is very easy to locate as it is visible from many parts of the settlement, however, it is not so easy to get there because one has to go uphill from the village cafe to the church of Taxiarches and continue climbing the steps that lead to it. The panoramic view of the village and the sea is definitely worth the effort of the climb.
The celebration takes place every 20th of July.
