The path of Persephone
It is 10.9 km long. The time required to travel it is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Along the way, the traveler passes by the location of Papoulia and the chapel of St. Anargyron and the Katafiki gorge, a gorge which is connected to the legend of Persephone, the last labor of Hercules as well as other stories about fairies and demons.
What is certain is that the gorge is particularly imposing and has been designated as a protected area of particular beauty and a wildlife sanctuary.
The route is easy but any excursion into nature always needs attention.
Path of Ilei
It is 9 km long. The time required to travel it is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.
The path starts from the area of Papoulia in the direction of Iliokastro, follows the stream and passes through plane trees and pine trees, along the way the traveler will see the old water mill and marks on the pine trees from the collection of resin.
This route is also easy.
